“Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to attend an engaging session led by Dr. Kaushik Sridhar, hosted by AIESEC Australia Ltd Monash. This workshop focused on career development, networking, interviewing skills, and personal branding—essential tools for navigating today’s dynamic job market.
The session was an eye-opener in many ways. I learned about the importance of the PAR (Problem, Action, Result) method, which can significantly enhance how we communicate our achievements during interviews. The statistics shared about interviews were particularly striking, underscoring the importance of preparation and the strategic presentation of our skills.
One of the key takeaways for me was understanding the difference between soft and hard skills—and realizing that soft skills often carry more weight in the long run. Dr. Sridhar emphasized the significance of having a clear Unique Value Proposition (UVP), which allows us to articulate what sets us apart from others in a crowded market.
Perhaps the most inspiring part of the session was hearing Dr. Kaushik share his personal journey. His life, encapsulated in a timeline of events and challenges across five chapters, was a testament to resilience and adaptability. From his early days as a tennis player to founding his own company, Orka Advisory, his story is a powerful reminder of how diverse experiences shape our professional paths.
It was especially meaningful for me to reconnect with Dr. Kaushik, who was my lecturer last semester at the University of Melbourne in the ‘Sustainable Business Practices’ course. His teaching style—rich with real-life examples and practical insights—has always resonated with me, and it was fascinating to hear more about his career journey.
